Born in Trashigang, I am Chador Tenzin, a teacher. Being a volunteer for the Multi-sectoral Task Force and Community Based Support System empowers me to help and guide my fellow countrymen. This year, I was fortunate to cover all fifteen gewogs in my Dzongkhag to advocate on domestic violence, gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS and mother and child health with other volunteers. Sometimes, it is challenging to be a volunteer as I need to attend to people while doing my primary job. And also, there were times when I have referred people seeking support to other stakeholders and in the end I got blamed for the help rendered. However, being in a position to provide help to those in need and the faith and trust they have in me motivates me to continue being a volunteer.
